The Great Burden of Forgiving Your Enemy | Fr. Emmanuel N. ASOGWA

Faith Issues September 17, 2023 8:34 am

In a very enticing and thoughtful approach, Fr. George Abah explains how our blessed Lord at the two miracles of multiplication proved that the Eucharist is for all humanity and not an exclusive property of the Jews.

Reflecting on the event of the last supper, as distinct from that of multiplication, he further elucidates; how the Priest celebrates the Eucharist in persona Christi Capitis, how the question asked in Exodus 16 was answered in Mathew 14, and how the celebration of the Holy Eucharist became necessary in a world of challenges and difficulties.

Finally, Fr reveals what should happen after the reception of the Holy Eucharist, and very unfortunately, what could be the untold implications of not being in communion with Christ who is the centre of our being.

If you click to listen, his homiletic pattern will certainly keep you till the end👌😊.

May God bless and keep you Dear Fr 🙏

This is My Body, This is My Blood | Corpus Christi Homily | Fr. George O. Aba

Rev. Fr. Paulinus Ike Ogara makes a comparative analysis on the concept of the Pentecost for a Jew and for a Christian. This analysis formed the basis upon which he carefully enumerates with biblical citations, the indispensable roles of the Holy Spirit as a Comforter (Jn.16:13), a Healer (Rm. 8:26), a Guide and Promoter (Acts 13:2; 1Cor. 2:13) a unifier (Acts 2:1-11), a Sanctifier (Rm.15:16), and a Gift giver (1Cor. 12:4).

Far more importantly, while revealing how the Holy Spirit influenced the entire life of Christ and that of his apostles, Fr Ogara therefore concludes that there is nothing we can do without the Holy Spirit in our lives, and finally recommends that our ego should stop interfering in the package and plans of the Holy Spirit in activating our potentials, our dormant gifts and energies.

While reflecting on Jesus the Good Shepherd, Fr Christian Okoro portrayed how the true image of God, which was unknown to the Jews, has been revealed in Jesus. According to him, Jesus has taught us that God is not esoteric, neither is he a mental construct God, rather he is a living loving God, who is ever ready to welcome us and attend to our problems. He ended with an invitation for us to feel God's love in abundance.

Fr Emmanuel Nnazimako Asogwa, in his theme, "Emmaus Journey; My Journey, Our Eucharistic Journey", makes two fine connections. He pictures the Emmaus Journey as a perfect representation of our daily experiences at Mass and at Life. And the most expensive line item is how we can roundly triumph over our challenges in these journies. In fact, even the journey of watching this homily is a moment you would not want to be interrupted till the end.

eflecting on the relevance of the death of God in Jesus is the most difficult teaching about our Faith, especially amidst the continuous trend of evils in the world today.

It's only a deep theological thought like that of Fr Uchenna Eze on the theme "WHY GOOD FRIDAY" can mediate the existential conflicts within.

According to him, Good Friday is the day we learn not so much about who God is in himself, but who He is for us. Since Jesus has destroyed the network of evil, Fr Uchenna recommends that it's not an invitation to shed tears as in the Shakespearean play 'Julius Caesar' but to behold the death of Christ and be impacted with the memorial by looking steadily and sternly at Him.

As the need for confession can never be overemphasized at this solemn moment, Fr Francis Umeh offers us a brief historical analysis on the development of the Sacrament of reconciliation, makes a concise clarification on its working dynamics and above all, reveals the enduring values that enable the Sacrament to forgive and grace the penitent.

Reflection for Wednesday of the Holy Week, Year A, 5 March, 2023.
While reflecting on the characters of a loyal servant as depicted by the prophet Isaiah in the first reading, Fr Ferdinand Odo, in the Gospel, further demonstrates how Judas on the contrary, was not able to cooperate in the ministry of Jesus.

In the high point of such a beautiful connection, Fr gathers life-changing lessons that could be very relevant to the existential condition of a Master-servant relationship in our society today.

Reflection for Tuesday of the Holy Week, 2023.
As the day of Christ's death draws near, one could observe that our Blessed Lord though divine, is troubled in the spirit. The reasons behind this terrific moment have been variously reflected and severally thrusted into the limelight.
However, while revealing our Lord's Love's last Appeal, Fr Lawrence Chidera Ezugwu tugs at the strings of the Truth.

Reflection for Monday of the Holy Week, Year A.

Fr Ghesu Amon, in a very coordinated manner, makes a comparative analysis between two characters; Mary, the pious woman who threw herself at the feet of Jesus to pour love spontaneously from her heart, and Judas, the selfish fraudulent servant who claimed to love the poor but with the aim to steal from the common treasury.

The existential lessons gathered from his analysis are really thought provoking.

Fr. Innocent Enwe reflects with us, the events of the Holy Week. This is to enable us plunge into the Pascal Mystery of Christ in a most profound manner.

Very calmly and more explicitly, he clarifies how each liturgical activity succeeds the other until the desolate mood of the church gives way to consolation with the event of Christ's resurrection.

Reflection for Saturday in the 5th Week of Lent, Year A

Fr. Emmanuel Onyishi laments the absurdity of Christians who, in spite of their baptismal initiation, still feel safe and delusional under the auspices of fetish practices. He however prescribes Ex. 20:1-6, Micah 6:8, Jn 4:24 as antidotes towards the worship of God alone.
