2023ElectionsTown Hall Meeting Concluded

The Town Hall meeting organized by the JDPC (Justice, Development, and Peace Commission) of the Catholic Diocese of Nsukka has been concluded. The concluding part took place on 4th February, 2023. The event was previously held on 19th January, 2023 for candidates aspiring for the House of Representatives and House of Assembly to meet with citizens resident in Nsukka. Aspirants who presented their manifestoes on 19th January, 2023 for the House of Representatives include Dr. Dan Ugwuja (APC), Ugwu Ngozi Eucharia (APGA), Chidi Obetta (LP), Nnaemeka Aleke (NNPP), Engr. Vita Abba (PDP). While for House of Assembly were Obodoechina Bernard 9apc), Barr. Christiana Onah (PDP), Pius Ezeugwu (LP), Linus Ezea (PRP), Omeje Christiana (ADP), Peter Ugwu (APC), Ugwuanyi Uchenna (APGA), Onyiyechi Malachy (LP), Ugwuanyi Samson (NNPP), and Agbo Amos (PDP).
On 4th February, 2023, the town hall meeting witnessed a host of aspirants for the senatorial and gubernatorial positions present their manifestoes. The senatorial candidates include Ambassador Ejike Eze (APC), Ugwu Casmir (APGA), Barr. Okey Ezea (LP), Prof. Onyeke A. Onyeke (NNPP), Emmanuel Ugwuocho (PRP), Gideon Okey Agbo while the Gubernatorial candidates include Frank Nweke Jnr (APGA), Chijioke Edeoga (LP), Cyril Mamah (NRM), AND Nnaji Uchechukwu (APC).
In his address, the Director of JDPC, Rev. Fr. Dr. Matthew Irunna Ezea took time to explain the latest tool to be employed by INEC for the voters’ exercise which is the BIVAS (bi-Modal Voters Accreditation Machine System). He explained that this would checkmate rigging and electoral malpractices.
At the end of the presentations, there was a question-and-answer fora.
Parishioners, priests and residents of Nsukka and beyond turned out in their numbers to witness both occasions.
